Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-10-02 · Novantia B.V., Oeverkruid 12, 9738 AK Groningen
TextLift is built to be private by default. The app runs entirely on your Mac.
The short version
- Text and table recognition happens on your device using Apple's Vision framework and, for digital PDFs, the file's own text layer.
- We do not collect, store, or transmit the content you capture.
- There is no analytics, no telemetry, no tracking, and no account inside the app.
- Buying a license is handled by our reseller, who acts as merchant of record.
What TextLift processes, and where
| Data | Where it's processed | Kept? |
|---|---|---|
| The region/image you capture | In memory on your Mac, briefly, to recognize text | Discarded after recognition |
| Recognized text / tables | Placed on your clipboard | Only in Capture History if you leave it enabled |
| QR / barcode payloads | Decoded on-device | Same as recognized text |
No captured image or text is ever sent off your Mac by TextLift.
Capture History
If "Keep capture history" is enabled (Settings), your most recent captures are stored locally only, in ~/Library/Application Support/TextLift/. This never leaves your Mac, is never transmitted, and you can clear it at any time (History → Clear All) or turn it off entirely in Settings.
Permissions
- Screen Recording — required only so TextLift can read the pixels of the region you select for a screen capture. It is not used for anything else and is not needed to OCR a file you open.
Purchases (handled by our reseller)
When you buy a license, the purchase is processed by our reseller as merchant of record; you see which reseller at checkout, and its own privacy policy covers the payment details you give it. We (Novantia) receive limited order details — typically your name, email address, and the license key issued — which we use only to deliver and validate your license and to provide customer support. Your license key is stored locally on your Mac and validated offline.
Your rights (GDPR / EU)
You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of the limited personal data we hold (your order/support records) by emailing support@novantia.eu. Because captured content never reaches us, there is nothing on our side to delete for it — it lives only on your Mac.
Children
TextLift is a productivity tool not directed at children under 16.
Changes
We may update this policy; material changes will be posted on this page with a new date.
