Privacy Policy

DockPeek is built to be private by default. It runs on your Mac and has no analytics or tracking. It only contacts our servers to check for updates and, once you activate a license, to verify that license.

The short version

• Window thumbnails are created on your device, shown only in the preview popover.
• We do not collect, store, or transmit anything you view.
• There is no analytics, no telemetry, no tracking, and no account inside the app.
• Update checks send nothing that identifies you; license checks send your license key and a pseudonymous device ID (a hash of your Mac's hardware ID).
• Buying a license is handled by our reseller, who acts as merchant of record.

What DockPeek processes, and where

No thumbnail or window content is ever written to disk or sent off your Mac by DockPeek.

Network connections

• Update check — at most once a day, over https to novantia.eu, DockPeek downloads a small file we sign that names the latest version. It sends no version number, license key, device ID, or anything else that identifies you; our web server sees only the IP address of the request, as with any website visit. You can turn the automatic check off in Settings.
• License activation and checks — when you activate a license, and then at launch and every six hours while DockPeek runs, it connects over https to licenses.novantia.eu. It sends your license key, a device ID (a SHA-256 hash of your Mac's hardware UUID, which can't be turned back into that UUID), and the platform ("macOS"). Your computer's name is not sent. This lets us allow one Mac per license, let you move a license, and pass on a revocation or expiry. Our license server keeps the activated device IDs and the time of the last check with your license, and sees the IP address of the request. Without a connection an activated license keeps working for 14 days.
• Spotify artwork — when a Spotify preview is shown, DockPeek loads the album cover directly from Spotify, using the image address Spotify provides. Nothing about you is sent to us.

Permissions

• Accessibility — to read Dock item positions and to move or resize windows.
• Screen Recording — to render the window thumbnails. It is not used for anything else.
• Automation (Music/Spotify) — to control playback and show track details. Local only.
• Calendar — to show your upcoming events when you hover Calendar. Local only.

Purchases (handled by our reseller)

When you buy a license, the purchase is processed by our reseller as merchant of record; you see which reseller at checkout, and its own privacy policy covers the payment details you give it. We (Novantia) receive limited order details — typically your name, email address, and the license key issued — which we use only to deliver and validate your license and to provide customer support.

How long we keep it

• License activations (device ID, time of the last check): only while the license is activated on that Mac. When you deactivate it, the device ID is removed; when the license ends, we remove its activations.
• Order details: as long as the purchase requires and Dutch tax law obliges (usually 7 years).
• Support emails: no longer than needed to answer your question.

Your rights (GDPR / EU)

You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of the personal data we hold (your order, support and license activation records) by emailing support@novantia.eu. Because what you view never reaches us, there is nothing on our side to delete for it — it lives only on your Mac.

Changes

We may update this policy; material changes will be posted on this page with a new date.
